Wageshwar Shiva Temple is situated on Ahmednagar Road in Wagholi area.It is around 11 km from MagarpattaCity and 14km from PUNE railway station. The 'WAGHESHWAR' word meaning is Lord of Tigers. The temple is located in a beautiful scenic place opposite a natural lake. It is one of very ancient temple during the time of Mahabharata. History of this temple says Pandavas were made it and it is one of the worship place of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Temple is made of black stone with hindu god and goddess carved pictures on every wall. |
With all respect we went to inside by passing small door for lord Shiva darshan. Everyone was chanting OM NAMAH SHIVAY and it was echoing in temple.Lord Shivas idol is very ancient and amazing. We prayed our wish with happiness and lucky to have darshan. Entrance of temple contains green gardens at both side. Children can play and have fun in children playground. There is old tomb which is samadhis of Sardar Pilajirao Jadhav, a prominent Peshwai commander. There is big standing lamp to put diyas. Further we move ahead and saw Om Namah Shivay written on top of temple. There is big Nandi maharaj in front of temple. |

After having darshan of lord Shiva we went to back side and found amazing lake surrounded by ghats. Lake is full of water, there are lot of swans in water going in and out of water. Lake also contains ample fishes. Every one was feeding them something Channa,pav,biscuit so we also did it and children really love this activity because when we throw biscuit in water lot of fish come and attach of floating biscuit. |

One can do boating in lake by taking ticket Rs 30 and have ride with old man called him KAKA. He took the lakeside and help us to understand the history of temple. While doing boating we saw buffalo and cows were swimming in lake.Lake is full of water throughout the four seasons. | |
During Shivaratri there are lot of devotee comes here to have blessing of lord Shiva. | |
Overall this is one of the scenic place to visit with temple,lake,play ground and know our history. |
